Continuing Education
As you may know, maintaining your national certification requires completing a certain number of continuing education hours every few years, depending on whether you are certified by CCHI or NBCMI.
At MITS, we make it easy and stress-free to meet all the requirements for renewing your certification. We offer several 4-hour courses approved by both certifying entities.
You can choose individual 4-hour courses or bundled options to save. Please watch the videos below for more information.

What is a CEU?
Is it an hour of Tranining?
A CEU (Continuing Education Unit) is a standardized measure of continuing education, commonly used in professional development and certification renewal. One CEU equals 10 contact hours of participation in an accredited continuing education program.
Why Do People Confuse CEUs with One Hour?
- Misinterpretation of the Term – Since “unit” suggests a singular measure, some assume 1 CEU = 1 hour, when it actually equals 10 hours.
- CCHI and NBCMI Use Different Systems – CCHI measures continuing education in contact hours, while NBCMI uses CEUs. For example, a course labeled as “4 hours of continuing education” would be 0.4 CEUs if measured in CEUs.
- Lack of Standardization Awareness – Many professionals are unaware that CEUs follow a formalized system with specific requirements, leading them to mistakenly equate 1 CEU with 1 hour.
To avoid confusion, it’s always best to check whether a program measures continuing education in contact hours or CEUs. It’s also advisable to think in hours—for example, if NBCMI requires 3 CEUs, they are not requiring just 3 hours of training, but actually 30 hours.
