English-Spanish Specific Program

Unlike language-neutral courses that are taught in English only,  MITS unique 40-hour training program has been specifically designed to significantly improve your skills in both languages: English and Spanish. Practice with many doctor-patient vignettes as if you were in an actual medical interpreting assignment. This is a truly bilingual course!

Learn at your own pace and whenever it suits you to attain your completion certificate. Our bite-sized lessons are designed to seamlessly integrate into your hectic schedule. Each module can be finished in approximately four hours, with multiple lessons for you to tackle at your convenience. No need to worry about final exams or extra charges; your certificate will be awarded once you successfully complete all core lessons and exercises.

This training program is approved to meet the requirements to apply for the national certification exams offered by the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI) and the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters (NBCMI).

Basics of Interpretation

This vital course will provide you with the foundational knowledge and linguistic tools necessary to start your professional interpreting career on the right foot. You'll lay a solid base to build your skillset.

Ethics & Standards

In this course, you'll be introduced to the guidelines of professionalism and ethical conduct. It'll help you develop your critical thinking and decision-making skills by analyzing examples of potential ethical dilemmas.

Medical Terminology I

Understanding medical terminology is important for the medical interpreter, but speaking the medical language used in the day-to-day healthcare environment is paramount in ensuring effective communication.

Cardiology

Heart disease is the most common affliction in the world. In this course, you’ll interpret documents, narrations, and conversations that involve the use of medical vocabulary frequently found in this medical specialty.

Endocrinology

In this course, you'll learn more about the intricate glandular system. You’ll gain practical experience by interpreting clinical encounters related to the diagnoses and treatments of endocrine disorders.

Medical Termin0logy II

These interactive courses are presented in a unique combination of mesmerizing videos and audio exercises. You'll learn and review hundreds of core medical words organized by body systems.

Orthopedics

Spine disorders, joint surgeries, trauma, or a simple accident at work that turns into a workers’ comp case are some examples of interpreting assignments. In this module, you’ll practice with similar scenarios.

Psychiatry

Interpreting in mental health is probably one of the most challenging assignments for many interpreters. These interactions take place in a variety of settings, including med-legal appointments. We'll go over that here.

Nephrology

Kidney disease can be attributed to other medical conditions. Discover the illnesses, symptoms, and treatments related to renal failure by putting into practice your bilingual abilities in three interpreting modes.

Oncology

Interpreting for patients with cancer and their families requires skill and solid knowledge about the complexity of this disease. In this course, you'll gain vocabulary and experience with our interactive exercises.

A detailed guide on how to approach the different types of questions, strategies for answering multiple-choice items, a review of the topics to be tested, and two mock exams to test your knowledge.

Sight Translation Prep

In this oral laboratory course, you'll find many more exam-style documents to practice with medical and legal terms like those found in the real exam. You'll gain more confidence and fluency in this interpreting mode.

Simultaneous Oral Prep
